Re: Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 [OPEN]
He was born on the 14th! He's doing great, except he threw up all over me yesterday -_- but the main reason I can't contribute is because my computer won't work. Or else I could maybe throw something together.

Re: Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 [OPEN]
All notes made while reviewing in SM5 (except for Butterfly Joe, did it in ddream). I'm still kind of new to all this, so I hope these are at least a bit helpful
Nick012 - all of your files That was unexpectedly fast! However, too much work is needed on these files for me to accept them. I know you mentioned in your email that you are fairly new to all of this so I'll do my best to explain why I made that decision: - Many of the files were off sync, some by almost a 16th, and one actually had yellow note syndrome. For files like Sadness and Sorrow, having the right sync is extremely important. There is of course the possibility that your computer is a bit off compared to mine or to other people, which is totally forgivable. But for now these are in too rough of shape to really enjoy playing them - Many of the files harder charts were over-layered and had too many notes for what the song was (the challenge chart for Aveyond Battle Music or Dragon Slayer, or the edit chart for Sadness and Sorrow, for example) and the easier charts were missing some fairly obvious notes completely (the challenge chart for Daze or The Hero) - Audio quality is also fairly important too. A few of the files were in great shape, but The Hero would definitely need upgrading before being accepted to most packs - I probably wouldn't accept Dragon Slayer as well because XelNya did one for SSS2. Having said all that, I think 2 of your files are actually quite full of potential! Sadness and Sorrow would make an excellent piano file and Tsuna Awakens would be just plain fun. When I am free I could help you go over them in much more depth, or if you wanted to ask someone for some help that's okay too (there are some folks around here with much better ears/ideas than me). I think we can really get something out of those two I also found a better version of the song for Tsuna Awakens so we'll use that in the future, if you decide to want to work on them. Rejecting all except for Sadness and Sorrow and Tsnua Awakens - lets work on those two! Go Beyond!! - Unfortunately, Go Beyond has been stepped to China and back, and these particular charts don't really offer anything extra. The 16ths at the beginning are inconsistent - you have them for the first, third and fourth sets of synth sounds but not the second. The jumpstream in the Oni chart is alright if a bit messy, but that's about it. The speedup doesn't really fit the song since there isn't really any noticeable change in the tempo, and the long 16th stream is kind of unimaginative. Gonna have to reject this one. Butterfly Joe - I like how you changed the intensity to fit the song, however the layering in Hard seems weird to me... I think that the Hard chart is the better one but it just seems odd. You could probably add the 24ths in during the repeating piano bit at 54.7s. Also, the hands that you have on the 48ths at 74.2 should be on the 4ths immediately after (74.2s and 77.2s). Finally, I'm not sure the minifreezes at the beginning make sense. I'm assuming that they are supposed to go to the strings in the background, but the sounds are held so there is no need to have a second freeze for that particular sound. It sort of works for the long freezes at first (sorta, I'm kind of on the fence with those) but the second set should probably just be one longer freeze each. As an aside, is this a variable bit rate file? If so, do you mind if we change it to a constant bit rate? I'm just asking because variable bit rates mess with the playback in the editor and every time I tried to play it the song was almost a full second ahead of the notes and I constantly had to play from the beginning lmao Needs some work Hua Sui Yue - Only one chart, will do full review when I get the second If you decide to do the really fast strings, make an third chart for them because I don't think having streams that fast would fit the song well - but only IF you are going to do those Conditional

btw Kraezy, I might find some time to ship one over but if you still have the Mudkip file that I sent to you a while back, you can use that as one of my submissions~

Re: Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 [OPEN]
Wow i can´t believe 2 files actually got the "need updating". I´m really happy, I´ll do my best and work on those files!
I could replace the random 32nds in the Sadness and Sorrow with 16ths and fix a few notes that are off by a 32/16. And obviously remove the edit(that was my first attempt at a dump file. Tried to make every note a jack, but i placed them way too close). When you can please PM the Tsuna Awakens audio! I am aware some of those files have terrible audio quality, some i even had to amplify the noise of the file because it was way too low. |

Re: Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 [OPEN]
Haven't you been trying to get that file into a pack for like 3 years or more?
I'm also doing two songs for this atm. One I started last pack, and a *new* one. Both of them are Reol songs though. Last edited by XelNya; 02-9-2016 at 03:15 PM.. |

Re: Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 [OPEN]
sent in "The Haunting" pretty slow map at 66 BPM with mostly eighth notes so it might actually be too easy of all things lol.

Re: Stepping Stones of StepMania 3 [OPEN]
Pepper Steak rules no lie
My Friend Mudkip - Hard - Pretty tricky but kinda fun too. Not a huge fan of those 16th jump-freeze sections (for instance, around M34/35). For the section that starts at M40 I think the mini freezes are cool but maybe tone them down a bit? I think that the 8bit sounds are a little too sharp and quick to really warrant the use of them when you have so many other freezes in the in the area going to other longer sounds. Medium - I don't think you need to use the rollds for most of this chart. I think the same thing can be accomplished by replacing them with a 16th mini jack instead since (I think) you'd be tapping about the same speed. Definitely keep them in that M40 section that I mentioned above though, they are awesome there. Other than that I think it's just a bit of pattern tweaking. Stuff at like 120.772, 125.883, 136.206 (SM5 editor) could be jacks because the 8th and 16ths are the same snare sound. There are other spots in the chart you could do this too sometimes even with 8ths (ie. 131.260 and stuff) So for now I'll say Yes to Hard because I like the challenge it provides and tweak Medium a little bit and we should be good to go. Beginner and Light were pretty much fine so I'll just say they are okay lol 4 Walls - Not bad at all, some good challenge in there. Fairly technical. Needs that second chart though! I'll update it when I get it The Haunting - I think I'm gonna have to agree with you on the too easy part. Even adding the hands like you did didn't really add enough to the chart. The guitar solo was well done, though. I'm gonna say no to this one, mostly because I don't think the song is really providing anything worth stepping... it's just too empty However, I think you have gotten a lot better at charting though, so don't let it get to you! I hope you send another --- Nick012, I'm gonna try and get you some proper notes for S&S and Tsuna probably over the weekend. Sorry I haven't got them to you sooner, was working on gfx and a file for CKMP1.5 oop
