Comedy: Hataraku Maou-sama!
Supernatural(ish) (idk what other genre to put this in since it's pretty different): Bakemonogatari (or just monogatari series in general) Slice of Life: Non Non Biyori (last episode in 2 days ) |

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
I can definitely vouch for the two "ordinary lives" anime for comedy (Nichijou and Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou). Potemayo is also a cute little show, though the humor might not click with everyone.
However, I'm more interested in watching something I haven't yet. Definitely want a chance to check out Non Non Biyori and the Monogatari series.

That's true, I never really thought about marathoning. One episode a day should be fine though. I'm gonna miss Nondays.

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
You should definitely watch Tokyo Godfathers around Christmas (it's a movie rather than a series)! It's by the talented Satoshi Kon (who also helped in stuff like Paprika, Millennium Girl, and Paranoia Agent, the series) who passed away some amount of years ago, iirc. It's both Christmas themed, warm, and a bit unusual with their selection of characters. It's a really sweet movie, I think.
As far as series go, I generally suggest Tatami Galaxy (Slice of Life/Drama) because it has some metaphysical aspects to it (and even some magical realism; an entire subplot/concept is lifted directly from 100 Years Of Solitude) without being too polarising due to the coming-of-life schoolage aspect to it (but I feel like this is a theme in most anime lately...). There's a bit of comedy to it, too. It's in somewhat the same vein as Welcome to the NHK! but it has a stronger female character in it, I think, and it's a bit more versatile despite the Groundhog Day effect of repeating the same span of time. If nothing else, the person that recommended that should check this out! Baccano! seems like a good start because it has a little bit of everything; an intriguing plot, somewhat endearing characters, accessible comedy, and it follows different characters around, so if some of the protagonists bother you, hey, you'll eventually get to see some others instead. Madoka is an alright series, especially since it takes a well established, pre-existing theme and kind of inverts it, but I feel like it'd be more appreciated by someone exposed to magical girl fare first (Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon, etc.). A nice handful of series here are classics, and the only reason I'd recommend against them is because it's generally pretty fun to go out and explore new offerings. Cowboy Bebop (admittedly a personal favorite), FLCL, GTO, Lain, Akira, etc. are all pretty solid series, but I feel like a lot of people have probably seen these before because a) they've been around for a pretty long time and b) they've also been broadcast in the US, sometimes even with dubbing. Definitely worth watching any of them, though. I feel like Lain is a bit underrepresented sometimes, for example. Oh, Samurai Champloo and Trigun also fall here I guess, I'm just not really familiar with either of them to any meaningful degree so I feel it'd be fallacious to assert either are good.

Maybe kaiji. It's p.good. I'd put this one under action. It's about a guy (named Kaiji) that has to gamble for his life because he's so in debt. The animation might take a bit getting used to but I like it :3

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
I'm not really sure what to post for genres. I guess I enjoy action/adventure stuff the most since the main kind of stuff I like is FMA: Brotherhood, Trigun, Hunter x Hunter (especially HxH omg so good). It's hard to remember all of them as well since there are so damn many and I've seen little bits and pieces of a lot of them that I don't remember the names of. But yeah, <3 me some anime. I'd totally be down for this. I've been using http://www.animeseason.com/ to watch stuff lately, which seems to have a nice selection.

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
Updated ~
ATTENTION I went through the anime mentioned and have narrowed down to the three genres based on main interests. That being: Comedy Psychological Thriller/Horror/Supernatural Drama/Slice of Life Sorry action genre~ but I believe most of the interest was in the others, if the majority of you disagree let me know otherwise With that being said the polls are up! Decide one anime from each genre you would like to watch. Comedy: http://strawpoll.me/911468 Psychological Thriller/Horror/Supernatural: http://strawpoll.me/911545 Drama/Slice of Life: http://strawpoll.me/911573 I'd also like to point out a few anime shows mentioned are not on the lists, this is due to how many episodes there are in them and time constraints. Clannad is highlighted in green in the op because after story is recommended with it. There is also one more poll I'd like for you guys to take, I've talked with a few in the group chat and we've decided on a possible 2 showings, one in the morning and one at night because of lack of availability at certain times. If anyone is interested in a morning/afternoon showing (12pm EST) Let me know as well. Time availability poll: http://strawpoll.me/911623 Again, if you're interested in joining the group chat let danceflashrevo know :3, his Skype is also listed in the op~ |

Re: ~*Winter Break Anime Fun!*~
ATTENTION v2
I've made a separate poll where you can select multiple anime for each genre. This should give us an idea of the number of people who are interested in watching for each and every one of the accepted suggestions. If you're interested in joining us for this event, please vote in this poll as well! The form can be found here.
