Aside from what I've played so far here goes: -Mario Party: Yes, I concur that in this game everybody's the fucking boss. rip friendship -Allul (Arc Rise Fantasia): Holy fuck I had a hard time with this battle. I had to grind like a motherfucker since I was too busy grinding WP and not get revives for it. -Luze & Eesa (Arc Rise Fantasia): I placed both of them here not because of lolfinalbosstoohard kind of thing but I haven't gotten past them yet simply because I forgot crucial items and thus because of that I have to struggle more \o/. But even if your team is up to par or even slightly above, you're still going to have a hard time with them if you don't have the right stuff >_> I'll edit this post with more hard bosses that I have played against being remembered.

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
I think an important distinction needs to be made, here. Sometimes a boss is only hard because you're going in blindly. For example, you'll see a lot of lists claiming that, say, Emerald Weapon from FF7 is insanely hard, when really he's only hard because people aren't using any real strategies. If you just walk in hammering KOTR repeatedly and hope not to get killed in the meantime, you're gonna have a bad time.
So two things need consideration: 1. How hard it is to determine the the best strategy (sometimes figuring out the optimal approach takes a lot of trial-and-error or a fair bit of pre-planning) 2. How hard it is to execute that strategy (even when you know the easiest way to beat a boss, it may still be hard as hell to pull off) I think #1 has been effectively neutered by the Internet. It's not too hard now to just look up the best strategy once someone else has figured it out. So IMO better to focus on #2. |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
I remember the boss from Halo 2 on the third level on legendary being incredibly difficult when playing solo.
This is the only video I can find of this and it looks like the guy is playing on normal considering he can take a few sword swings and not die as opposed to getting one shot. He even says the boss is a pushover and then fails consistently on normal. The problem with this boss is that he sends infinite waves of high elites at you and often with swords. This kind of falls under category 2 of what rubix was saying. It is very obvious what you are supposed to do. Just attack the boss and kill the guards, but its really difficult to do. Maybe if I had a plasma pistol and a battle rifle at the time. -_- Last edited by Izzy; 03-28-2013 at 10:32 AM.. |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
I'd say that Halo Reach LASO is pretty insurmountably hard. An elite takes 4 sniper rounds to the head to kill it. With that being said, if you can beat Halo Reach LASO by yourself, I'll just take a moment to throw my Xbox out the window.

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
Aster Protoflorian from Final Fantasy XIII. It's mainly an exam type boss, since you have to utilize all of the assets you have in order to take it down. But that's the problem, it's so tricky to pull off it's not even funny.

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
Most of the MMX bosses are really easy. The hardest boss from that series I'd say would have to be Sigma in his "wolverine" form in MMX3. Good luck dodging some of those abilities lol

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
depends on how you go about the battle, too. eg. RPG Challenges, the amount of luck involved, etc.
Obviously Touhou games are going to be brought up, but those aren't (over 90% of the time) about luck. lol old NES games seem to have the hardest imo Last edited by Pseudo Enigma; 03-28-2013 at 03:21 PM.. Reason: jesus christ my wording is absurd today. Z_Z |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
You guys are all picking extremely easy bosses, lol
The only tough Megaman battles you'll find are in Rockman and Forte (and even then they're still able to be learned) Last edited by Reincarnate; 03-28-2013 at 03:22 PM.. |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
Ragu O'Ragula.
Shinobi PS2's final boss, Hiruko, on Super Mode without Moritsune. GG. FF8's Lv100 Omega without Holy Wars. Megaman X6's final Sigma with minimum upgrades. The 50/50 mine at the end of Expert Minesweeper.

Dark Souls... Four Kings in NG+. =|
Also: MGS2, the Ray boss fight on Extreme. A more satisfying victory I've never known. |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
The entirety of Gradius III (Arcade version, not SNES port).
More specifically from Gradius III's Arcade version That ice level and it's luck based RNG'd block positioning. |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
I could also add: Final Ghirahim and Demise in Skyward Sword can both be a bitch if you have no prior knowledge of the method. They're both puzzle battles and end up being a fight between your ability to reason through them and your potion supply. Of course, once you figure them out the first time, you kind of suck if you ever die on them again lol.

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates, Selkie Solo Run. That's fukken hard.
There's nothing more aggravating than watching the boss kill you with a sliver of health on Hard mode. Often times you wont get him down to half. |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
Maybe I just got lucky but I have yet to die *once* against either Emerald or Ruby -- but more generally, all the bosses in that game are impossible to lose against as long as you leverage the right strategies
EDIT: Oh I just remembered -- fighting Goro or Motaro on the old Mortal Kombat I/III arcade machines was wicked hard |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
Guys guys... I have a boss battle that no one will be ever to beat.
Lets implement something in the game that we don't explain even in the instruction manual and see the little kids cry as they try to mindlessly get through it. Suffer... SUFFER! SUFFER! |

Re: Hardest Boss Battle(s)
I was just going to talk about the MK series bosses but you beat me to it. Particularly during the golden SNES age of Mortal Kombat, bosses like Shao Khan or Motaro would screw you over countless times. The Goro/Kintaro duo was also pure mayhem.
I might also add to this list the obligatory boss rush mode at the end of Actraiser I. It was pretty hard since your health would not regen between bosses and you only had about two or three lives to survive the whole ordeal. Not particularly extreme, but pretty demanding for a SNES age game. I've got so much I can't remember, I myself am a pretty sadistic gamer. EDIT: Quote:
