Re: First Brutal AAA!
I think 82 was my initial rating of the file, but I honestly really wouldn't go any lower than that. If Reality's a short 79 featuring 260bpm streams with relatively comfortable patterns, Ultrasounds being an 82ish in difficulty seems about right. You'd think that one would hear '300 bpm streams' and automatically assume from an objective standpoint that it's gotta be at least an 85...but man, those patterns just flow so well. Plus it helps that those streams appear relatively early on in the file. I'm guessing if the streams popped up near the very end, the scoreboard would be a little dirtier than it currently is. Having the difficult section appearing earlier in the file is always beneficial for scoring. I'm sure if files like Ordeal started at the guitar/synth solo and tacked the first 90 seconds or so on to the very end, the scoreboard would be a lot nicer since one would be able to tackle 'the problem section' quite early on without having to sift through a minute or two of rather trivial stuff (getting a lot more bang for your restart buck). Not saying that something like that should be a factor to consider when rating a file, but players are probably more intrinsically motivated to try to whore out a good score on a file where the hard shit appears early on.
That being said, still a very solid AAA. |
