Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
Firstly, time isn't a good indicator of activity, as anyone could make an account, gather some GTS and neglect to use it again for years, never posting in the forum. Do such people really deserve level stats and a forum title more than an active player and forum-goer?
Secondly, nothing should be an absolute requirement; especially time. Rather, as devonin suggested in another thread, activity should be measured holistically with multiple, proportionate qualifiers. Quote:
1 year = 1 billion GTS = 1000 posts Though I think this is a little better: 1 year = 2 billion GTS = 500 posts |

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
By having post milestones as part of Veteran Status, one would only encourage worthless spamming all over the boards in an attempt to reach 1000+ posts; seems like a bad idea in the long run.

Except that if you do that, we ban you, and you get no status at all because you're banned.

I like devonin's idea. It looks like it would work well.

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
I think if anybody actually took the time to try and creatively spampost in a way that got them postcount, and spam gameplays for GTS JUST so they could get the couple little additions veterans get, then I mean...gratz? I guess?

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
I agree with Devonin's idea. The vet status is more about the game than the forums or profile stuff. I don't know why some of you are getting irate over the terms of a vet status being too easy or being less strict. I don't see how being around for x amount of years really has anything to do with being a vet. With Devonin's idea, it gives an alternate way of obtaining it. Again, most of the veteran features are about the game itself. Not for the forum or longevity of an e-account.

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
Vet status should be timebased ONLY. Throwing gts and forum crap into it is retarded

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
Veteran status only belongs to the pros. People who DO have over 3 billion total score. People that have ACTUALLY been around for the 3 years.
It sounds like a good idea, except if people just try to find loop holes to get to it. Ruins the fun. Not good, no. I've been here for 3 years, and counting, and I'm not saying I deserve it. Definitely not.

Well then. If it is "retarded", may I ask you explain your reasoning behind this?

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
What does time mean at all for this? So what if you visited this a couple years ago and joined. How does that determine you're a veteran? How does time have to do with anything about the features of being a veteran? May it be a restriction, yes. Should there be other means to obtain it? Of course. Devonin's idea is a median between all fields. If someone can mash out 4-7 billion points, they're obviously putting effort and work into it. Time = nothing. Just sits there and grows. How can you measure anything by that? The post thing I kinda disagree with but the forums are a major part of this site.

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
Also, to kind of fit with the time idea, I think skill tokens/regular tokens should be a part of the elite status, to prove you've actually spent the time to do those, and spent time on the account, instead of just allowing the account to remain stationary.

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
This all depends on what you guys see as a Veteran. Everyone has their own opinions but overall, isn't a Veteran good overall at something (FFR in this case)?
So I guess it should include everything. Time doesn't seem so necessary. There should be another rank, something like Family for time (joking). As for Veteran, AAAs, FCs, songs played, score gained etc... Should all count towards Veteran. Even something like a total accumulated amount of credits should be accounted for and a certain MP rank (maybe). At least this way a True Veteran has had to be all over the site to be considered a Veteran. Last edited by Oni-Paranoia; 11-21-2010 at 11:31 AM.. |

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?
In this case, I don't qualify for Veteran.
:3 *edit* Dev's holistic idea is definitely the best for this, in my opinion. Last edited by JenovaSephiroth; 11-21-2010 at 11:39 AM.. |
