Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
i've already explained in another thread why the current FFR can't have a 1-frame perfect window. if you want to find it, i think it's in this forum and it was started by Patashu.
if you want 1st hand proof, play the 1st style of FFR.

Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
First off the file for Goodbye, My Love is to easy. It could have been MUCH better. It's synced to my standards so i don't really care. That DoTa song is a pile and load of BS it just needs to be taken off the game period.

Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
DotA is the most played song on FFR. Why exactly would they take it out?

If they'd shift the offset of DOTA it'd be alright.

Um, who the hell cares about "our history"? Soon enough, our history will be keeping crappy stepfiles that could have been easily fixed. I totally agree that we should fix the off beat songs. I've got a fairly slow computer and I hate waiting 5 minutes for it to load only for the song to suck balls through the ass.

Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
I think a lot of the old songs could be fixed while still retaining the original steps for the most part, fixing only the majorly off-beat sections and such.

Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
I liked the idea I saw of an old genre. Put that and a little subcaption like D2 has that says somehting like "Old and offbeat songs" or something.

Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
I agree with the ideas to make an Old genre (which would probably give visitors a better understanding of how good FFR can be) and to fix more recent offbeat songs. Keeping stuff for historical reasons is one thing, but having a newer song be offbeat or badly stepped when it can be easily fixed is a different thing entirely.

Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
I don't understand why a lot of the rock songs are offbeat. I know the files I've made for widgets have been pretty much on the beat in SM, yet in the widgets, they're off. I'm not sure what happens in transition. If it's just the offset, then Tass should stop being lazy and fix it.

Re: Fix the stupid Rock songs
dwi to ffr converting program is almost ok, but sometimes the offset needs to be adjusted by frames.
some files are even off on sm maybe, not just offset problem. |

That would be like Square-Enix releasing FFXIII with the FFI battle sequences. It's "part of their history" so everyone should appreciate it that, well no, not really. To the gamer it would look like bad graphics, bad programming, and bad syncing. Back to FFR. A new person joins, they play some awesome songs and then they go and play some "blue-note-syndrome" songs. Do you think they think "must be part of the history, good stuff!" or do they think "wow, these songs are bad and out of sync, they need improved". As FFR is a game, they should naturally be trying to present the best possible package to entice more and more people. Leaving in the past when things were worse isn't my idea of continual improvement or making the game better overall. |
