Re: Huge pad pack compilation project - looking for helpers [check page 1 for updates
Oh, i guess it makes sense to ask beforehand. Most of the files there didn't need to be modified at all, and as i progress towards more recent releases there will probably never be any need to touch anything at all, but i already did some changes. For example gpop's kung-fu rider has mudkyp's gfx set, and gpop's expert chart was replaced with mudkyp's
Another minor but notable change i made is, for a majority of the songs, to change the preview music to the most catchy and distinctive section of the song. This project wasn't originally meant to be a community project, so i did not really think about asking around at first. I guess it's mandatory that i make a spreadsheet with all the edits made until now, as well as better organizing the files. If your file is in and do not agree with something, just let me know.

Yeah, make a spreadsheet with a list of all of the files for yourself, and then make a dropbox so that people can make changes/fixes and continually update it as if it were a repository.
Alternatively, you could host something like this on a place like sourceforge if you wanted to since the purpose of SF is for project management (albeit, for programming usually). |

Re: Huge pad pack compilation project - looking for helpers [check page 1 for updates
Everything CT said aside, even just using files can be problematic if you don't seek permission. I don't know if OP Momo asked, say, mute or mudkyp about any of this but I'd be a bit concerned if he didn't. I don't see how it's difficult to ask, most of the users who have files in here are pretty easy to track down and writing a short PM doesn't take much longer than playing a single file out of the likely thousands that OP is combing through for this compilation. Granted, there are some files (especially the ancient ones) where nobody may know who stepped it but if OP makes a reasonable effort that could reduce a lot of the problems. I don't know what the norms are for some people but the reactions from many people - including those with files in these packs - to Horsey's Hardcore Workout and such was certainly not positive.
All that aside for a moment, have a repository would be cool because you could track the changes made and have accountability for them. Also I can contribute a few files. |

Rikame implicitly brings up another good point: what if the player would like to make the easier difficulties themselves? They have more right than we do as the original stepartist of the files, haha.

I think it's a very reasonable and valid argument, at this point i'll make it so anyone involved - actively or passively - knows of the project and gives permission.
Give me a few days to organize and i'll upload an open dropbox or a MEGA account with folders + a spreadsheet so contributing will be easier and checking out stuff won't be a problem anymore for anyone.

Re: Huge pad pack compilation project - looking for helpers [check page 1 for updates
Posting in here for two things:
a.) to tell you that I haven't forgotten about this -- I've been working on my r21freak Doubles Comp II file a lot lately and it's been the focus of any instance that I open my SM build for making ITG files; you'll see Big Bad Queen Chrysalis from me soon. b.) I haven't forgotten about this at all, and I'm just bumping it to make sure that no one else does. Question: are you looking to fill out full double charts too? |

If enough people are willing to contribute, definitely yes! But i don't think it's necessary. Afterall for a new player getting the hang of singles is already enough. :P

Bumping to remind everyone of this. Also are long and marathon charts okay?
