Default Memory Lapse - MDMA

Psytrance / Acid Trance / Breakbeat

http://www.mediafire.com/?xghvgg1lh9w

Collab by me and Manmademusic. It hasn't been through the final mastering yet, and the breakbeat section sounds muddy, yeah I know.

Thoughts?

That is a SICK lead. You MUST let me remix this. What synth is that?

Awesome lead in the beginning (what is it, it sounds crazy awesome), the middle was standard trance and almost lost interest up until the breakbeats kicked in and made it interesting again.

Overally nicely done and mixed pretty well.

also needs moar acid. If you're using a 303 or an emulator for the bassline in the song, you should've really messed with the cutoff and resonance for full effect.

MDMAMDMAMDMAMDMAMDMAMDMAMDMA!!!!!! This one time I was in my friend's room and he was like hey I have some x want to have it and I instantly said yes with eyes open and he was like omg I just kidding it is an antacid pill but you can eat it anyways. o.o

That is some SICK ASS filter work. I was really hoping that you would add your acid breaks into your trance leads. Bass drop into trance lead could be heavier, instead of just a kick drop.

And yea, breakbeat part is muddy; can't really tell where beats and basses are different.

The lead was made in Wasp. Everything else was in Sytrus. Erothyme, you can remix it if you want, it's released under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license, so as long as you distribute the work freely, you're fine. I'll work on the trance part and breakbeat part.

I wish I could say more, but adjectives fail me (probably because I ran this evening). Just know that it's a good song.

There's only one little thing I have to complain about. Pardon my ignorance towards acid trance, but I was a bit turned off toward one of the acid synths being in the left ear only. Really though, what you do with your song is up to you.

Ah, that was actually a minor mistake. We're working on the song now, it should all be fixed by the final release.

Okay people, here's the final mix.

Memory Lapse

A few things that were fixed:
-Main trance lead removed, replaced with Acid Synth
-Trance arp removed, replaced with a slightly more acid trance melody
-Breakbeat drums louder, less muddy
-Panning on acid synth centered
-Bass drop added, combines with reverb kick most of the time

@ KgZ: We didn't add a huge climax. We started this song with the intent of creating a song that was mostly chill, not particularly intense. Both Wicked and I believe that it's perfectly fine as is. Thanks for the input though, it was much appreciated ^_^

I really like this, but I personally think your mixing favored your acid synth too much during the climax of the song. I can imagine it being blended behind your pads, and fading into and out of auditory perspective. Not sure if that makes any sense, but that is about as close as I can get to translating auditory information into English. ^_^

Your amen breaks could be crisper sounding, but that is pure nitpicking. Really, really good stuff here!
