Re: Songs of the Week (March 29, 2012)
The Ocean felt way overstepped for my tastes, considering the tone of the song. Also not fond of the patterns chosen.
XP Startup Theme was fun. The PR isn't perfect, and maybe some ghost notes/missing notes, but overall it's nice. The placeholder at the end seemed unnecessary. Very cool song, at any rate. Miss Candy on TV wound up being better than I expected. The trill patterns had a nice flow, once I figured out there were yellow (14) jumps in the intro lol I have a feeling the big roll in this file will produce some Skeletor-style rage out of people going for the AAA. Not really my favorite kind of file or music, but I have no problem with it either. Futsuu No Uta also felt a little overstepped, pretty brutally layered! I'm not usually a fan of this kind of file (yeah I know, Kyuin... don't ask) but it's not bad. There's not much of this kind of file in FFR so it has a place. Also was it just me or did parts of this feel very right hand biased? Aside from The Ocean I was mostly happy with this release. A set of files that are all not really my personal favorites, but I can understand why they were done that way. 2c

Re: Songs of the Week (March 29, 2012)
The Ocean was my favorite of the week. Miss Candy on TV flows very well for the most part but gets the "hurts my ears" award for sure. Futsuu No Uta is so dense that it causes split goods fairly easily on what would be a normally easy to PA sort of file. XP Startup Theme was...um...weird (but congrats Netjet!).
on another note about Futsuu: "Pika! Pika!" Last edited by bmah; 03-29-2012 at 02:53 AM.. |

Re: Songs of the Week (March 29, 2012)
Miss Candy on TV - song is SO annoying, oh my god. Chart is actually pretty respectable considering the circumstances though, nice work, you two. 16th runs flow pretty well and despite the huge roll right in the beginning of the song, the chart is still pretty tame (at least, compared to the super-dump version of this file...)
XP Startup Theme - nice job, Netjet! Aside from one or two questionable notes inserted near the end of the file, the song was pretty well represented. Surprised to see some relatively proper patterning/relevance too. Also, I really appreciate the fact that you cut the BPM to 1/4th of what it should be at the beginning of the song, it makes it feel a lot more smooth and mellow. (This is my favorite of the week, by the way.) Futsuu No Uta - whoa, this chart is a lot more aggressive than I expected a typical Kommisar chart to be. In any event, the file is great as usual. Very flowing patterns, despite the heavy density. Quite a few triples in this sucker, mmm? The Ocean - this song is a lot more mellow than I remember (I've seen this chart a few different times due to DF and personal submission), and the chart is also a bit heavier than I remember. I don't particularly remember all of the scaling (1234321, or some derivative of it) within the chart, and the lack of pattern deviation within those particular areas makes it a bit draggy. Chart is alright, not really wrong, just not my cup of tea. |

As far as Miss Candy goes, I don't really care for the genre of music, but the file is ok. I actually enjoy the trills in that song as it flows very well.

Re: Songs of the Week (March 29, 2012)
Loved The Ocean and my favourite of the week
XP Startup Theme was a nice song =) Miss Candy on TV is a nice chart but there's something about those trills in the beginning that are tough to combo on.. or maybe it's just me Didn't really like Futsuu No Uta... felt overstepped, and isn't fun to try to score on. (Just my opinion) >_<;; |

Re: Songs of the Week (March 29, 2012)
XP Startup was really nice, the song was lovely and the chart felt really relaxing and enjoyable as opposed to "omg another 5 I have to AAA...when does this song end? DX"
The other songs, I only played part of them because 4am = bad scores = restart = try again = fail again = restart= f*** it, I'll play it later. I will say the first third of love the ocean was nice, the intro trills are actually kinda fun in miss candy even though I'm bad at trills although that skeletor-esque wall is irritating as ****, and I kept missflagging in the intro to futsuu, so I have to get a good opinion or full playthrough of the file yet. I'll give better comments on these when I actually play through all the files. xD |

I hate glitchcore, let this be known. I facepalmed when I realized it was Dossar...
Yay kommi. I liked this file, but it's so hard T_T The Ocean, I have to agree with hi19. XP theme was slick. I didn't expect the bit we know to be in there the way it was, and when I heard it, I was like "omfg the XP theme is better than I thought, IN THE RIGHT CONTEXT." I hated that bootup sound. Got on my nerves after a while. |

Re: Songs of the Week (March 29, 2012)
Miss Candy- Nice and short, pretty fun. Though I agree with bmah, DAT OPENING.
Futsuu- Something about it just clicks with me, its pretty fast but the notes feel right. Managed a technical SDG on the second run (9-0-0-4), Might be my first 11 AAA sometime soon assuming it doesn't get dropped to a 10. (heh) XP- Good job on the steps, though I would probably drop the jump at the end. Beautiful song anyways. The Ocean- Boo flagged first read, but the file was super enjoyable so I don't mind replaying it at all. I wouldn't say its too overstepped, and the patterns feel pretty solid (at least to me). Probably my favorite from this week. Last edited by omega_grunt666; 03-29-2012 at 12:39 PM.. |
