Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
SMW on Shrooms is almost the same file from my tournament, but not exactly. Some different framers and ending to the climax, maybe a few dozen frames different.
Still a stamina raping monster. I love how relentless the file is from start to finish. Bloody Tears translated well to FFR, so I'm happy about that. In hindsight only 2 transitions I would have done slightly differently, such as the [14][34] near the end, and also one awkward 212323 pattern in the fast stream which was intentional but still feels weird. Overall really proud of it though. I'll play the others later. EDIT - patashu whyyyy

Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
D5's song: You would really have to be on shrooms if you started hearing some of those songs in Super Mario World. lol Disney theme at the end.

Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
Really disappointed with D4's file. It was too demanding for a very smooth and relaxing jazz song.

Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
Yo Strategy of Emperor is super fun. Nothing crazy out of the box just great music and fun, fitting patterns. Good shit.

Strategy of Emperor is a really well done file, and it plays like something I would enjoy from like... three or four years ago. It mixes some great old school patterning with some new-style layering. Tidus did a fantastic job on that file.

Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
My last reviews.
Call Upon the Seaponies (EuroSHOOBEDOO Mix): This is a great file with nice white-arrow accents. Plays very well, but all these hands make the chart very prone to good-splitting. Sounds very much like Super Eurobeat music (for a final round though, the song doesn't sound all that boss-like or epic). I bet the D1 players will be surprised at the 24th rolls and that 32nd roll too. The Strategy of Emperor: Another nice chart with patterns that sort of remind me of Sonata Quasi Fantasia mov 3's chart. Seems a lot easier than the D2 final from both the 6th and 7th officials (Fish Hell, Destination of the Heart). You have some 12th jacks yeah, but they run pretty smoothly. Good file, Tidus. Bloody Tears: S.S.H. does a nice Castlevania remix. This is my favorite file this round, because there's a lot of variation going on without a ton of clutter. The patterns flow pretty well, except for a few areas where the 32nds create some tight anchors. Also, shades of Holy Order! The slow runningmen 16ths is very reminiscent of it. I'd play this over and over again though. Good job, hi19! Go Beyond!! -Jazzy mix-: xi does a great job of remixing this song which originally derived from IIDX. The file's really really dense and forced though...and that's coming from someone who steps so-called "technical" files often. If you guys liked Ordeal Becomes Great so much though, you should man up and suck every arrow in this file. Chunky and polyrhythmic, it's such a huge step up from D3's final. I wonder if there exists a hidden division 3.5. The gap is that large IMO. Good luck, D4ers. Playing Super Mario World While Taking Mushrooms: Did my world just melt away into an indescribable mess? Why, yes it did! This is an unforgiving file to the nth degree that I've strangely grown a fondness of after playing it a lot in the past. It's extremely relentless and tiring though, and the end is just way too hard for me to hit correctly without losing my combo. The song is plain weird, and is basically Mario on acid. So messed up it is, that Mickey Mouse makes a brief distorted appearance at the end of the song before vaporizing from the chart's intensity. p.s. Scintill WHY Unconnected.: I fortunately have this file on my Stepmania, so I can actually review it. Unfortunately, Stepmania is a lot less forgiving when it comes to bsing extremely fast bursts, so my performance is always a mess. I couldn't even assess this file properly when AJ first gave it to me; he had to give me reassurrance from the D7 masters that the file was indeed playable (proof: Luis). Even though all bursts are jumptrillable, this file is devilishly fast. I can't say I enjoy this file, so I'll turn to the more experienced players to make this assessment. The song ends with a devious laugh to mock those who attempt this chart. |

Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
I dunno, i really liked go beyond - then again its super reminiscent of the go beyond file from SM, which i adore, so that makes sense...could have been smoother, but since go beyond is a pretty hyper upbeat song, turning it into a jazz remix should account for a brutal file like it is.
BTW cmon, shrooms is like an 88. phi dentity crisis is an 86 might i remind everyone and, honestly, is way more brutal than shrooms. Shrooms just takes a bit of jumpstream skill. the rest of the difficulty comes from the few awkward jumpjack sections and polyrhythms. |

honestly i have no clue whats going on, new round nights always make me weird, and i cant judge the files properly due to fatigue. but i mean shit, look at my best for this round already, and look at my phidentity crisis best (hint hint its well over 100g run with over 100 boos - i can improve this, but not as far as i have for shrooms) edit: imma go play phi right now and see if i can eat my own words |

The polyrhythms are hard to hit as well, it's really difficult to AAA (I had to play this for hi19's tourney, although I beat everyone that round [barely], it was still pretty hard. >_>) and you either rush goods because you can't keep up or you AAA it. The awkward jumpjack sections do screw a lot of people up, I don't find it THAT bad, but I feel that the general consensus would. I can understand where you're coming from, but keep in mind that not everyone whores NB files and has loads of stamina/jumpstream speed. I would say that Shrooms is fine as a 91, maybe 92/93. Call Upon the Seaponies (EuroSHOOBEDOO Mix): Very nice file. Not a fan of the song, but subjective of course. The jumpstream would probably be kinda brutal for D1, but since it's the final round, why not. The Strategy of Emperor: I'll review this later, I don't remember the file, sorry. Bloody Tears: Very varied in terms of patterns and all, definitely a file that tests every aspect of the game. It's also pretty well executed too, it flows well overall. Go Beyond! -Jazzy Mix-: Not a fan of this, lmao. Feels really forced and dense overall, but it's not that bad of a file. Definitely a huge difficulty jump though, jesus christ. Playing Super Mario World While Taking Mushrooms: This is brutal and fun as fuck. My favourite file of the round. Unconnected.: I don't have the file, sorry. |

Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
lmfao why is everyone bashing me for this i at least said it was higher than phi, i said 88 > 86 yo
btw uh maybe i have a weird skillset idk lol, cant do craaaAAaaAAanaunaaaapntntuyyyyYYYyyyazy ass jumpjacks that are everywhere in the file (which are also as fast if not faster than club's jumps n shit which btw i can AAA that pretty much no problem, but i can only do that ^ on phi?) but i can jumpstream for 5 mins...i guess thats where all those WLL plays on smo came in handy Last edited by d4u7211; 03-15-2013 at 05:01 AM.. |

Re: Official Tournament Final Round Song Discussion
yeah i did... /opinion - but, for majority's sake i did feel like i should put shrooms higher than phi, hence the 88. I just personally dont feel like it breaks that 90 range. Something like Jamais Vu is obviously much more brutal, even 32nd notes in the song aside the song would (at least should) be a 90 or higher. but the jumpstreams in shrooms are much slower and less trickier, at least until the end. Tricky or not, JV's speed is so insane, it deserves to be a 90. The only thing shrooms is holding onto to keep its 90+ status is the jacks, imo. so if that does it for you guys, then i agree
