I'm a dumbass
I need to get my priorities straight rofl. My class has been working on writing an essay on the book Anthem by Ayn Rand for a nationwide (possibly international?) contest, for like the past week and a half. I've neglected to do anything for that entire time. I now have to submit that essay to the site before 2:59 A.M. EST. My level of procrastination is getting ridiculous. The essay needs to be between 600 and 1200 words (not that bad), I'm 180 or so in in the second paragraph.
wat do

Re: I'm a dumbass
I actually myself have a big multigenre paper due next week, but I know how I'm going to approach it with the remaining time even though it was assigned two weeks ago, mainly because of the amount of reading (that class gives me massive headache, I excel and blast through my other fun classes)
In terms of procrastination, it's probably better if you previously plan how you're going to approach it. Being like "oh I'll do it today" from previous experience doesn't really work well, but if you have an idea on what you're going to do, it'll give less headache. My deadline is approaching pretty fast but I'm starting ASAP since I've gotten ahead in my other classes |

Re: I'm a dumbass
Well, I get a zero if I don't submit and hand my teacher a confirmation email printout proving I did, so....

Re: I'm a dumbass
If you think about it, 600-1200 words is not a lot of words. I remember just making an Abstract for a Science Fair Project was difficult because it can't be more than 250 words lol.
Whatever the essay is about, give it some thought. Write down main ideas or key points that will help you expand on into detail as you go along. Before you know it, you're past 1,000 words.

Well plug it in when you need to submit lol, but I mean keep it off while you're writing it so you don't get tempted.

Re: I'm a dumbass
You're pretty vague about what the essay's asking you to do, and I also don't know how well you've read it.
Figure out the core idea. Branch out from it your reasonings or whatever you're trying to explain. On a scrap piece of paper, write it out like a flow chart. Visualizing it might help you get your thoughts more organized than staring at an unfinished paragraph, or heck, even a list of ideas. When you make it visual, you can physically see what's "missing". Anyways, do this quickly, then figure out which order to present those ideas in. Afterwards, spit it out. |

600-1200? That's not much at all. If you're at 180, you're already almost one-third of the way to the minimum! Just think about it that way and keep typing.

Re: I'm a dumbass
I wrote a 2400 word essay for a class I ended up dropping anyways. What a waste of time that was.
