Favorite RPG setting?
See pollloolololol
Shit I forgot to add the "mix" option. Anyways my vote is for mix, lol. Just treat "other" as "mix/other" Last edited by Reincarnate; 07-19-2011 at 08:23 AM.. |

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
It might be useful to hear why you like certain settings but not others

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
Well the Medieval/Fantasy setting always appealed to me more so for the weaponry and character types. I like the ability to have control with a darker souled player, and the story lines of good vs evil and battles for power and justice are just my kind of thing.
Tis why I like to stick with the Final Fantasy series, it seems to all be around that kind of thing, even though it gets a little more modernized each time a games come out, it still has those roots of good vs evil and battles for justice and peace. It's the same thing with a shooter game, I prefer classic style war over futuristic laser shooting, light saber stabbing, gravity hammer bullshit.

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
Yeah, It's Medieval/Fantasy for me also. I like the good vs. bad thing and like that sort of style of weaponry.

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
I like Medieval/Fantasy as well as futuristic. Games like Valkyrie profile, the FF series, Star Ocean and Wild Arms are just a few of the games that I feel fit me and my interests perfectly.

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
Any examples of "Modern" and "Alien" rpgs? I can't seem to think of any.

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
I personally prefer Medieval/Fantasy because I grew up playing those style of games (like Eternal Lands).

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
I enjoy games with futuristic elements the most just because I like to see all the ridiculous "technology" that is made. However, I enjoy medieval/fantasy games also because it seems like the most reasonable time for an RPG to take place in.

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
The setting is pretty much irrelevant to me, so long as the storytelling is done well enough.

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
Three things an RPG should have for me to thoroughly enjoy it are:
Story- If I have to sit through a cut scene that's so bad it makes me hop on my computer til its over, then I wont be playing long. Soundtrack-I want to be pulled into the music, and the music better damn well fit with the occasion. Side quests/Replayable content- The Fast forward/Slow down feature in a Chrono Cross New Game+ was epic as hell. I don't care what anyone says. I'm a sucker for side quests, and a game I can play over and over again and still discover something new each time. |

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
Medieval for sure, I haven't really had much of a liking towards the Futuristic RPG genre, but I have beaten quite a few, even so.
The Weapons, the Lore, the Monsters. They're all better. I mean, the only Futuristic Medieval Game I have ever played was SO:TTEoT. I didn't much enjoy that, either. I do care about the GvE content in a Medival Game, but it's not as much of a necessity.. Modern Game examples: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. |

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
Cyberpunk (is that what you consider FF7? maybe "mix"?)
i wouldn't consider FF7 to be the BEST RPG EVER, but the setting and music for the Midgar area was really top notch, definitely sucked me in to the story.

old bump is old.
Still maintain my old answer though. Modern rpgs are fun, too though. Kinda. |
