Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
Lately I've noticed that my PA has been improving a lot playing on x1.75, but my ability to read harder songs seems to have stopped improving altogether. So, I logically thought that maybe if I increased my mod to x2.0, it might help.
Is this a good enough rationale to up my speed mod, or do you think it won't matter in the long run? My PA is pretty bad with x2.0; I get 50 and 60 goods on easy VC songs that I normally can AAA. xD. |

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
it probably depends on who you ask. It might be worth it to one person but not another. I'm content with 1.75 even though i could easily play 2.0
maybe we both should switch to 2 and see what happens and i dont know if you have problems with these songs, but i can read patterns from reality, across the rooftops, and eradication without a problem. so if you're having trouble reading those on 1.75, it just takes practice but increasing the speed will of course make the patterns easier to see. i think lol |

YES! 2.0x improved my play so much. But then again, everyone's different. Experiment, try it for a month or two. That way it gives you enough time to atone to the speed change.

I agree with Phynx, it took me awhile to get used to the speed change, but I was really happy after getting used to it. It also makes you feel cool because not that many people use it

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
I'd say yes. If you feel you can;t read any better, try getting the arrows spread out more, AKA raising speed. Sure your PA might suck, but with practice, it'll become just as good (if not better) than your skill on 1.75

How long would you say it took you to get your PA "back to normal" again?

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
It took me about a week but it varys depending on the person and how much time you put into practicing it imo.

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
just got 1500 goods on pants 2.0x. i tried getting good at 2.0x a while ago, spent about 2 weeks on it but gave up when my crappy pa didn't improve one bit. 1.75x definitley suits me best even on more dense files. but hey everyone's different i suppose, 2.0x could work for you i guess (lol contradictory advice)

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
Usually I do 1.75x on normal songs but on songs like RATO and Death Piano (which I sometimes did on 1.75x but 2x seemed smoother on rato) I took advantage of seeing the large timing window and trying to score as much as I could.

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
It helped me enormously with reading patterns, but I'm not 100% sure about PA: I currently average 94-96% perfects on a Challenging FC, but it's been so many months since I switched to x2 that I'm not sure how much better that is.

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
I think it would be worth it, I am not as good as you but i am able to read the song step patterns alot better and that really helped me so GO FOR IT

Re: Switching to x2.0. Is it worth it?
The answer to whether or not you should move your speed mod up is always yes as long as you can adjust to the speed mod. If you can get your PA up to speed (sorry, bad pun), then there are no disadvantages to moving up; only the advantage of having more readability.
If your PA is going to suffer, then obviously it's not worth it, but keep in mind that part of learning a new speed is suffering through bad PA, so if you're going to try to switch, be patient with it. |
