What are your thoughts on the Galaxy Nexus?

I ask because right now I am wavering between the Nexus, Galaxy S2, and iPhone. I probably won't go with the iPhone because **** that.

Nexus is a phenomenal phone, and outshines the SII in a couple of areas, however, assuming you're on Verizon...the Verizon version of the SII supports up to 42mbps hsdpa whereas the Nexus is only at 21mbps or something. That alone is enough to sway my selection over to the SII.

**Also, the Nexus doesn't have an SD card slot, eff that.

I'm on T-Mobile right now on a plan that isn't offered anymore afaik (pay $70 bucks a month, tax included -- unlocked Nexus One, no contract). I have the option of hopping on my girlfriend's plan (Verizon).

I've read a lot of the reviews comparing the two phones but I haven't actually played with either of em yet. One of my friends has a Nexus and it looks pretty sexy, but I do keep reading that the S2 is a serious contender.

I think I like the aesthetics and feel of the Nexus from what I see, but that data speed difference is fairly massive and it seems to be the main divergence of features/abilities between the two (minus the camera, to which the S2 has a slight edge, but I don't care too much about that)

I don't even pay attention to what version comes on the phone because there's always a way to get whatever version you want onto nearly any phone.

Aesthetically speaking, I like the SII a little better, however the back case feels like reallyyyyyy cheap plastic, as oppsed to the original Galaxy S that had a faux-carbon fiber aluminum panel.

The Nexus not having an SD card slot is probably the biggest dealbreaker to me.

I don't even use SD cards all that much, however. If I want to transfer shit I just use the USB

I have the S2, but I recommend the Nexus tbh. The camera quality is better on the S2, but the shutter speed is so damn slow, it's a real pain to use the camera to me. GN's camera has zero shutter delay or w/e it's called, so it's instant pictures. That's a lot funner. S2 is still stuck on 2.3.5 right now, but it'll get a 4.0.3 update soon enough. GN has a bigger screen and resolution, I don't know about the quality of the screen vs the S2, I haven't compared them yet. Nexus has all the new technologies and stuff too, so it's your best bet to futureproof yourself sort-of.
