Been a while...
Hey there.
I'm indecisive as to whether get a nice, good size plasma/LCD for my room to continue my addiction with Black Ops (Let me know who you are if you want to add me so I don't delete you - PSN: YoFaceBro), or a laptop meaning I would most likely come back and play. Haven't had one since I left the community. I don't know much about computers so I'm asking what would be a suitable laptop (kind of don't want a desktop) for me. As long as Stepmania/FFR runs fine, computer isn't slow/freezing/retarded and I have enough memory to hold a lot of music (interested in DJ'ing) then I'm happy. Would be great if it were under a grand, but a little over I would definitely consider. tl;dr version: TV for gaming, or computer for FFR? If computer, I need help. ... So... How's the weather?

Re: Been a while...
If it were my choice, I'd get the laptop. But I'd just suggest get whatever you want more.

Re: Been a while...
From what I've heard from TV enthusiasts, plasmas are garbage. Don't quote me on that though.

Re: Been a while...
Id suggest a TV. Not much happening here that you wouldnt mind missing. Ive always wanted a home theater in my basement.
Plasmas are great but there tends to be only one "sweet spot" much like a laptop or ipod screen. Above or below, to the left or right of the screen causes dark spots on the tele. If your on a budget and have the space, look into a rear projection tv. There much like an HD version of the CRT but can have beautiful picture quality. I'll look into it ddrmaniacaaa. It seems like a TV for the win so far.

Re: Been a while...
The thing about plasmas is that the image on the screen tends to be burned into it after long exposure to the same image, leaving a permanent mark on the TV. Laptop is better in my opinion; you can do more than just games with a laptop as well.

Re: Been a while...
I believe you get the most size/dollar ratio with plasmas, but they're kind of inferior to LCD's and LED's in most other ways.

Re: Been a while...
Do not get a plasma for gaming. You will burn a permanent picture into it and thats never good.

Re: Been a while...
Plasma TV's will only burn images if you leave the same non-moving image (like a pause menu) on it for like 2 weeks straight or more. Plasma TV's go dead after about 7-10 years.
However, Plasma TV's have a refresh rate of 600hz, while LED/LCD is 60hz(low end) 120hz(avg) and 240hz(high end 3d ready), so the picture on plasmas are ridiculously smooth, and are always capable of 3d (240hz is the minimum needed to view 3d). So if you don't mind the fact that your plasma tv isn't going to last as long as an LCD, then you should go for it. |

Re: Been a while...
That doesn't really happen anymore. Most plasmas are now very good at avoiding burn-in.

Re: Been a while...
Yeah.
But get a TV, I play FFR on this, as well as MW2 (PC version) and I'm getting a PS3 hooked up to it soon to replace my PS2 (actually it's just because I want to play Killzone 3). Also LCD > Plasma, as long as you get 120hz or 240hz. Only 60hz was available in 24" when I got mine so I was kinda stuck but now we're in the future and you have optionssss. ;D

http://www.staiain.net/StepMania/wik....php/Keyboards I would recommend getting back into this and possibly stepmania but this is the voice of an addict. Here are possible good laptop models as well as keyboards.
