Default Keyboards and FFR

So I've been using this very keyboard since I got my computer and always have liked it. Just a little bit ago I made a thread about hand posture which included a picture of my keyboard, where someone mentioned that my keyboard wasn't very good for FFR because of the keys being fairly hard to push compared to others. I didn't think much of it, until 2 days ago when I used my sisters computer to play FFR.

It was... amazing. Pushing the keys wasn't like pushing your finger through construction paper. I was able to do the dreaded jacks and trills much easier. And overall my PA must have been 30% better. I fear this keyboard has been holding me back.

So now I want a new keyboard. But I want to know some types some of you all like, etc.

I'm not to educated on the actual types and names of specific gaming keyboards, but what you really want is a keyboard that is similar in style to a laptop keyboard. The keys are much easier to press, and very durable. It's not surprising to hear that a different keyboard improved your accuracy and jacking ability.

I'm hoping someone will follow up my post with a link because they know a bit more than myself.

That thread has some good keyboard suggestions, but my personal favorites are a DELL laptop, a Logitech Ultra X flat (pretty sure my flat keyboard is a logitech just labeled rosewill lol), or a Dell SK-8115

I like those basic black keyboards that come with new computers.

I'm using Microsoft Basic Keyboard 1.0A and it hits quads just fine

i agree with the dossarlx on the dell laptop keyboard.
my mom owns a cheap dell laptop, and it's the best keyboard i've used for this game.

i'm currently using a macbook (old white model). . .and the keyboard is quite nice on this as well, though i still prefer my mom's dell laptop for this game (those for general use, this mac's keyboard is probably the best keyboard i've ever used).

not sure about keyboards to plug into a pc. . .i use to use a microsoft keyboard my dad had bought. . .i didn't realize how difficult it was to press the keys till i touched a laptop .
thnx.

I play with one hand, and the little space between the up and down arrows on many PC keyboards makes it hard to move my middle finger across it for trills, streams, bursts, etc w/o getting it stuck in the crack. I use a standard Mac keyboard and it's great. The keys are flat and even. My only issue is that sometimes it just doesn't record the hit even when I am sure I hit the note, which can be a big time downer.

I decided to get a Razer Lycosa. 'Tis a beauty. Thanks for suggestions.

I just wish the light could be in green so it would match my mouse. I also wish the light in the mouse was nearly as bright as it is in the picture. -_-

And damn that looks sexy.

It might be a completely different keyboard but I heard that a Razor Tarantula (sp?) is the best keyboard for vibrating but is really bad for everything else lol

Your keyboard doesn't make much of a difference until you start playing VD songs. Some keyboards make it quite difficult to do various things.

I have been using logitech G15 for almost 2 years and I can tell you don't buy that crap :P

My new Logitech access keyboard 600 is pwnage but only if you play spread, the sound it makes is really awesome. I got it for around 20$ compared to 70$ for G15 back to when i bought it. G15 only good if you play index like me but then youre very limited when comes to doing drills and jacks cause the keys are too high compared to normal. That's the type of keyboard you will have to remove a few keys around the keys you are using.

The keyboard came yesterday. It's even sexier when it's in front of you, and the touch-pad volume control makes you feel like God.

But I've noticed it has helped me a lot with songs like X-Dreamer Final Cut (dance, pg 8), Neomax (purchased), and Stalled Out and Sushi Bars (dance pg6). I can actually FC Difficult songs now, where before I'd be lucky to be able to FC one of them. And I don't have to stress my hands nearly as much anymore. 'Tis like a holy boon has come upon me.

And now I can actually play Fahrenheit. Before, anything with consecutive doubles would kill me.

THE BEST

the dell RT7D30 multimedia keyboard from a decade ago

i've purchased half a dozen keyboards for stepmania/ffr but none of them compare to this

ps - mine has been saturated with all kinds of drinks multiple times, thrown at walls so hard during arguments that most of the keys have fallen off leaving only the numpad functional, and it's still the best keyboard ever
