Three Finger Question
So...I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to I guess "train" your fingers to go faster then 16th's. Like I can do songs like Flying High, CIA Rave, Revolutionary Etude (at least the starting of it), Survive and all that. But songs that have 32's I think they are, like the ones in Divine Suicide of K, or Monstrous Turtles, or songs like that, is it possible or is it only possible playing spread or index?
Also, my thoughts is yes it is possible if you see the arrows as fast as they are coming ever other note. And do them as like staggered jumps. like a huge 16th jump stream. If its like up, down, right, left, right left, up, down. In 32's. Seeing them and hitting the up and down like a stagger jump, then quickly hitting the right and left as a staggered jump etc etc. Thinking that its possible that way but...I can't read the notes fast enough to even try that. So...I'm stuck. I'm thinking songs that kinda level and up are spread only but if its possible for one handed still I definitely wanna try it.

Re: Three Finger Question
It doesn't come down to question of what type of note you're hitting, but rather how fast the song is. You could have an extremely slow song that works with 32nds, but can't figure out how to play songs with a tremendously fast speed, like Max300. usually 32nds that are too fast will be changed into what we call a "Jump-Trill" or something of the like, where 32nd notes are changed into quick jumps, which is what I believe you're getting at.
Back with your original question in mind, time and practice is key to getting better. Focus on problems you might be experiencing while playing, (like hands (3 or 4 notes at the same time), or jacks,) and progressively give yourself harder challenges when you feel that you're up to it. Playing spread is much easier than trying to play index or one-handed on the harder files for sure, but that's because the learning curve of getting better is generally shorter when playing spread, hence why most people play it. Although, there are some people in this community who have became extremely good at the game, better than a lot of others by just playing index or one-handed, but if you're going for "training" your fingers to go faster than 16ths, I think making the switch to spread would be a good option to take if you want to get great scores on generally harder songs. Re: Three Finger Question
OP: While your problem is a legitimate one, it does not belong in the FFR Events forum.
As far as gaining one-handed or three-fingered speed, it falls in line with the same process as gaining speed in general. It all comes down to direct practice and conditioning. Every player gains skill in a particular aspect of the game with practice, and as a one-handed player, you'll have to practice multiple things in addition to speed. You'll need to condition your hands to take a beating in terms of stamina by practicing the same things that tire you out, until they don't (note: tire you out, and not HURT you). Then you'll have to work on optimizing your finger positioning/placements in streaming, AND jumpstreaming as things get harder. Finally, you'll have to learn your away around really tricky and uncomfortable patterns as a one-handed player (up/down trills are ESPECIALLY difficult and uncomfortable at first). It's precisely as gold stinger mentioned, and any other really strong FFR player will tell you the same thing - you have to work hard and try your best to optimize your game. If you can pinpoint where things are going wrong and truly make your best effort to make them right, you will improve very quickly. |

Re: Three Finger Question
First of all, yea sorry, I saw the "FFR" start in the forum and posted the thread here. Didn't realize until after its the OTHER FFR section I should of posted this question on. Oh well. =/ I don't think I can change it around unless I'm a moderator so...kinda gotta embrace this mistake lol.
And alright. Thank you both. Maybe if I manage to AAA the easy songs up to very tricky or difficult and kinda have to do the hard songs completely. Maybe by then I'll end up improving myself by learning tricks that help me. After all, as I was reading Gold Stingers post I remember I couldn't AAA anything. After constantly doing harder songs and sometimes FC's. I would go back to the easier ones and be able to AAA. It was very surprising actually =O. I'm thinking it works like that here. As for trills I think thats just vibrating in general right? Trills being a consistent step like all up or all down but in 32nds? or 16ths? I don't think that would really help regarding differences between one handed and spread. Because your still vibrating regardless. And what are jacks? Also on the side, LOVE your sigs guys lol. Team Pony sounds awesome.

You can bullshit some of the trills though, by jumpjacking, but I wouldn't really recommend it, it's better to get raw trilling speed imo. As for building up speed in general, if you haven't already, if you're doing [23] jumps, use your middle finger to hit both of the keys. You can actually trill 23232323 by sliding your finger around both keys, but that only works for flat keyboards. Highly recommend you get one if you want to build speed when it comes to one handing since it takes much less effort to just slide your fingers instead of using two fingers to hit a trill. Though the transition from a [23] position to a regular one hand position is difficult, you have to get used to it really. Also: Quote:

Re: Three Finger Question
So thats what they are! Now those make sense. Thanks for the trill and jack explaination. Yea I slam my middle finger down on the up and down. As for jacks or trills I kinda just go back and forth. Its easiest I find going from left to right or down right or anything really other then up and down. Kinda hard to flux my middle finger between both. Sometimes if I see it coming I'll just change my index and middle to handle the up and down before I go back but if I'm sight reading I usually suck at that part.
Side note, LOVE your avatar lol. Its so random and funny.

Re: Three Finger Question
anything that you have trouble passing or patterns that frustrate you
playing hard things makes hard things easier (up until a certain plateau that is)
