Default Re: Stepmania Nostalgia Pack (Submissions OPEN)

Enemy Storm (HawkE)
Both charts: This plays out like an easier NVLM dump. I have no issue with files like this being considered old school, but do we really want to have a nostalgia pack have these kinds of files so soon? Undecided.

Reunion (HawkE)
The triples in the 8th notes is a bit of a turn off. Otherwise, this is alright. Stream patterns look super old-school with all of that zig-zagging. Light accept.

Dash (Sensationer)
Offset is considerably incorrect. File seems really random and a lot of triples are used in combination with running streams, a bad combination for older files. File is way over-stepped. Reject.

I Love Rock and Roll (Sensationer)
Medium: Awesome concept up until 40 seconds, where the triples came in really heavily. Plays fairly alright until 2:20ish, until more triples start being spammed again. The constant abuse of triples is NOT something that files from this time had. I really enjoyed certain parts of the file though, the lack of care for layering with proper rhythmic syncopation is really nice. Revisions needed.

Heavy/Oni: WAY overstepped. This isn't a dump pack. Having a slightly over-layered file is fine if it's in moderation, but this is just ridiculous. Not every file in this pack is going to be an NVLM-esque style file and I'll make sure of it. Reject.

Only My Railgun (Sensationer)
Both charts: again, it just doesn't give off an old school feel -- you had a nice start to both charts, but when the song intensified, your chart added triples perfectly on cue. It's incredibly rough to play for a large majority of the chart. Reject.

Uzzuda (Sensationer)
Medium: This chart would probably work really well without any triples whatsoever. However, this chart isn't too over-bearing with the triple usage until around 2:40ish, and it IS fairly slow. I'm reluctant to let it pass, but I'll give it a thought before determining what to do. Undecided.

Heavy/Oni: yet again, charts are too much and play like dump files. No real care for pattern choice or anything of the sort. Reject.

Broadbaned (Kommisar)
Extremely aggressive chart. Plays like a more aggressive version of One More Lovely. While it pays some attention to details in the synthesized melodies, it still plays very nicely as an older file. A few triples after some fast runs, but a small number won't hurt. Accept.

Ending (Kommisar + WTFBrandon)
Such a great song to give a legacy style to! Absolutely no complaints. Accept.

FFReedom (MarioNintendo)
Nothing erroneous about the file, but it seems a little draggy. Light accept.
