Making a file with a .midi!

Is there any way to make a simfile with a .midi format sound file? I can't do it, and I'm using SM 3.9 >___< I tried converting it to an MP3, but the quality seems to suffer.

Not that I know of, you're going to have to find a decent converter that retains quality as much as possible.

Or run it through a sequencer and apply instruments to each channel.
