Need suggestions for SNES / Dreamcast

I've been trying to make up for lost time on SNES and the Dreamcast--the systems I missed out on as a kid --- and so far am having a blast with it. Been playing alot of Chrono Trigger, Final Fight 2, Final Fantasy 6 for the SNES and Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast.

Would really love to expand my collection for these great systems, but I jumped from NES to PSX and then went all Sony/Microsoft from there so my knowledge is pretty limited. Anyone care to post some great games for either of these systems? Mostly looking for Fighters, Shmups, and JRPGs but Im open to anything. I'm also not agasint importing titles (The Final Fight 2 I have is really a SFC cart and I do want to try getting Umihare Kawase some time down the road) so post anything that comes to mind.

Quick list of games I already have
SNES: Final Fight 1-2, FF6, Chrono Trigger, SMW, Killer Instinct 1, Super BattleTanks, few sports games/ other unkown titles I dont play.

DC: Soul Calibur, Virtual Fighter 3, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventures (Ugh) and that's really it. I know I want Ikaruga whenever I find a cheap copy.

Thanks guys

Ikaruga on DC fo sho! I have a burnt copy my brother gave me, I wish I could send you that lol.

I still can't perfect Stage 2... FFFFFF--- after playing Touhou for ages. They're both completely different in gameplay though.

I'm probably am going to pick it up at XBLA. I have Sonic Adventures (not DX) on XBLA too :]

Dragon Warrior, Dragon Quest for SNES
Secret of Mana (amazing game, hack and slash 2D) for SNES
Seiken Densetsu 3 for SNES (basically Secret of Mana 2)
Secret of Evermore (amazing game too, same people who made SoM) SNES
Super Metroid (we all love this)

I used to play Virtua Tennis on the DC too, I loved it.
Power Stone, Power Stone 2 for DC. Two of my favorite games back in the day :D

Yes yes this ^ ^ ^

Yoshi's Island (baby mario is like Navi on OoT lol)
Final Fantasy 2 (which is 4) on SNES [way way harder than FF6]
Final Fantasy 3 (which is 6) on SNES [which I just noticed that you mentioned it]
Illusion of Gaia (cool game for adventuring)
Megaman X (2nd best megaman X I've played)
Megaman X2 (THE BEST MEGAMAN X I'VE PLAYED, and also great for speedrunning)
Megaman X3 (didn't like the extra upgrades)

Secret Of Mana is a name that pops up alot. Is it alot like Legend of Mana on PSX? Played that one and while it was alright it wasnt anything worth going out of the way for IMO.

Cant believe I forgot about DKC. I had DKC1 but I beat that one to death pretty early in my SNES's life. Im prolly going to get 2.

EDIT: Didnt see LJ's 2nd post. Already have all the X games on the PS2 Collection Capcom released a few years ago. Need to look up Gaia tho.

Holy shit no, not really.

Although they're from Squaresoft

Secret of Mana RAPES Legend of Mana lololol.

edit: Illusion of Gaia is one of my favorite games of all time, story-wise. The bosses are pretty damn hard for a first-timer.

On the SNES, there are a lot of games I would recommend such as, DKC, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Turtles In Time and a bunch of other really amazing games. My list could go on for years on end.

Best snes games not on your list of games played are without a doubt Zelda A link to the past, Super Punch-out, Megaman X 1-3, Super Metroid, DKC 2, R-Type 3 Third Lightning, and Killer Instinct.

Dreamcast: Street Fighter 3rd strike. Only street fighter that matters.

Re: Need suggestings for SNES / Dreamcast

I was a SNES kid, never really played Dreamcast, so here we go:
Soul Blazer
Act Raiser
Terranigma
Bomberman Games, dude.
FFIV, VI. lol already said, but I figured wth. :P
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest <== THAT.
Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2 (1 is better imo, but try both you might like em)
Secret of Mana <= Better Choice than FFIV if you decide to.

Lessee, what else... I'll come back if I think of anything else

Soul Blazer and Terranigma are just like Illusion of Gaia, made by the same company. The setting makes it sound like they're in the same time frames with each other but they're completely different stories.

It's a trilogy to be exact.

I completely forgot about Third Strike.. my brother made me whore that game with him on VS mode so he could practice for Tournaments lol

The easiest way to get all of these games is through an emulator, but I guess that takes some of the experience away from the games (not being able to use the original controller).

Earthbound (SNES) is absolutely amazing. You won't regret it.

To mention games not yet mentioned...

Kirby Super Star
Megaman 7
Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Final Fantasy 5 (Don't leave this one out...!)
Lufia II
SkyBlazer (I like this damn game)
F-Zero

A number of Dragon Warrior games can be played. 1, 2 and 3 are definitely all available, and so are 5 and 6. Play them all, eventually. They're great. Dunno if you can get 4 for the SNES (I don't think it was ever remade for the SNES like 1,2,3).

Oh, also, a couple good Link to the past original mods have been made that are pretty great if you like the original. Same goes for super mario world.

kirby super star

kirby's dream land 3

start with the poplar titles and work your way from there

Oshi-- I forgot about Lufia. How the hell did I forget?!
Also, I thought DQ5 and FF5 were Japan releases only. You can play them on an emulator, but I thought we were talking about SNES itself.
My list would be HUGE if I could say some Japanese games that I have had emulated and translated.
