Help; missing DWI files/other problems.
Ok, so on my new computer, whenever I click create a new song and select the song and check the new folder in the Stepmania songs folder, it only makes an SM file. Before on my old computer it would make an SM file, a DWI file, an SM old file, and a DWI old file. Does it make any difference weather you have the DWI file, DWI old file, or the SM old file?
Also whenever I check the SM file, it says the space it takes up is 0 bytes. Even after I edit the file and check back, it still says 0 bytes. Thing is everytime I go back into stepmania to check, the steps are still there and everything. What's going on? |
Re: Help; missing DWI files/other problems.
Turn your user account control off. It's dangerous, but it's the only way I know of for making it so that it saves the actual files. You might lose some other stuff too, though. I learned the hard way. :/
Also, it'll keep those annoying popup thingys away! Make sure you have your files backed up though incase something goes wrong. |

Yeah, what megamon88 basically said. I used TweakUAC, but don't use it if you don't trust it. Also you may want to consider trying DDReam Studio. It's handier, smaller, and more efficient than using the stepmania client itself; plus if you're making pauses and BPM changes, your life will be tons easier. It's a lot quicker to press play at the part you're at to find where you need to get, and you can slow down or speed up the music on command to get where you need and for precision (ctrl+alt+left/right)
Very very handy. I only use Stepmania for playing. Oh and wrong subforum I think. |

never mind reread it and just change the control setting so that you're allowed to save things in the programs folder
