Anime Keyboard Smash Pack (submissions open)

Okay guys and gals I have two questions for you

1. Do you enjoy anime?
2. Do you play StepMania?

If you answered yes to either of them then let's get started. I've noticed there are a few anime songs in packs that I play so I figured: why not start this project?

There are a few rules
1. Submissions MUST have the name of the anime in the subtitle (OP/ED/BGM etc.) This will save me time for requesting gfx
2. Dump files will be immediately rejected save for one... And only ONE song. The opening for the first season of Pokémon. The first person to claim it will have dibs. I will reject any other submissions for it
3. There shall be NO J-core remixes or anything of the sort. I don't want to be judging 500 files by DJ Sharpnel. Trust me I've watched A LOT of anime and you'll find something that's steppable
4. Fun will take precedence over difficulty. I want this pack to be enjoyed by everyone of all skill levels.

For this pack I'm going to be judging in two phases: Listen & Watch and Play test

Listen & Watch- kinda self-explanatory but I'll be listening to the song and looking at your submission from start to finish at ear bleed level

If it passes that portion then it moves to Phase two:

Play Test: Obviously I play the damn thing to see if it's fun or not

If your file makes it through both phases it's in. Simple as that. The reason I'm doing this is because I have to do both phases individually during the work week, I can play test at work and listen & watch off work, so that way each phase gets a fair review.

Send your submissions to animekbsp@hotmail.com

Let's get started on this!

SUBMISSIONS:
Alderamin on the Sky (PorkyPink) [Passed Phase 1/2- Awaiting changes I mentioned before accepting]
Modern Strange Cowboy (PorkyPink)
Cross the Line (PorkyPink)
DREAM SCRAMBLE (PorkyPink)

How much do you care about difficulty?

If you want to go all out make it fun but make a watered down chart for newer players as well

So not to sound rude or anything here, but there's already the Otaku's Dream packs, Jubo's Simfiles, Huzure's packs, etc.. for a large majority of the steppable anime songs out there, and pretty much the only way to do most of the rest, or to make re-step the existing files to be unique enough and "fun for all levels", is to make it a dump.

That said, I hope you get some good submissions that prove this wrong. Best of luck man!

Dude don't worry there's THOUSANDS of animes out there. When you're an true Otaku like me you'll find something and make it work!

I can second, there has been quite a few songs out there ever since OD10 that would be nice to play. As far as the other two pack series, although they are meant to be for both playstyles, they are leaning towards the PAD side.

Re: Anime Keyboard Smash Pack (submissions open)

I know Otaku's Dream is an anime pack, but as mentioned above some of the files COULD be played on a pad. I'm trying to steer away from that and keep this a KB only pack

I might need a couple guinea pigs- I mean playtesters to help me judge files if things start getting hectic (irl I work night shifts Sunday- Thursday). This is the first time I've started a pack so hopefully things go well

looking forward to see what you guys can put out there

I might participate on this one...
Just used my based PAD simfiles convert to KB.
Flex my oldage-diminishing poor KB-gameplay skills now -.-;

And yes there are a ton of HUGE COLLECTION of Anime OPs/EDs/INSERTs/Official-AMVs/Image-Songs/Character-Songs -.- so many...
yet all depends on the Anime Viewers, or the so called Mainstream Genre.
+ New Spring 2017 Anime shows are out too :)

I'm the type of simfile-stepper/simfiler who loves using BGVideos and LARGE filesizes :P

Questions:
Rules on already released simfiles?
BG/Background Videos allowed?
Filesize limit?
:)

ODAM11 (KB pack) is pretty much dead or not even started for years (since 2014)? -.-
ODMix 5th Pad (4 volumes / 2volumes are out) is at its' final mix.
And most of my fellow members moved on-real-life/other-interest(s) :D
yup, sigh. 11+ long years.

Seeing that I've been on hiatus for a while released files are fine but they HAVE to be for Keyboard.

in regards to background videos I doubt people will use them so stick to a background/banner format to keep size to a minimum so that people around downloading a 10GB pack with like 30-40 songs.

There's no limit to the file size although I'm hoping you don't get too carried away and send me a 1.5GB .rar file.

If you have an anime song that NO ONE has stepped then feel free, I might change the rules of the pack to allow that but please for the love of god NO J-CORE MIXES. I don't want to play through 550 DJ Sharpnel/Jea/IOSYS etcetcetc files.

Is bgm ok: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITtIBqWuBI0

or does it have to be stuff with lyrics

Re: Anime Keyboard Smash Pack (submissions open)

BGM is fine! As long as you have the name of the anime in the subtitle of your submission

@Dinglesberry Bruh... step the FUCK out of that lmfao that sounds epic!

EDIT: I'll be tossing in a couple of my own files in this pack so I'll need someone to judge it and help me revise them when needed... any volunteers? :D

aite so here are the top five reasons why your pack idea sucks:

1. anime. we are at maximum capacity for anime files between otaku's dream (which actually still exists), skwid packs (albeit dumps for the most part), and half of every pack released since 2009
2. this pack concept doesn't cater enough to people who don't enjoy stepmania, which is a pretty huge demographic within the stepmania community that you're leaving out
3. nobody knows who you are so nobody can trust that you know what a fun file is. i bet you haven't even written a dissertation on nvlm
4. even ignoring that, saying that you do not want any dumps is a huge restriction that makes it very difficult to create fun files for most songs, mainly because the definition of "fun" in 2017 requires having a higher NPS than pine nut
5. pokemon isn't really an anime, it's too western

1. I laughed at the maximum capacity portion.
2. I'm pretty sure you meant to say "Doesn't cater enough to people who don't enjoy anime"... But yes that's duly noted. I'll think of something for that later.
3. I'm not surprised seeing as my hiatuses are longer than it took Moses to make the 10 commandments (happy easter btw). Also: Stepmanier essays are so 2008.
4. I realize that making dump files are the norm nowadays but it gets really boring when it fills up over 80% of each pack.
5. Let's not be TOO anal ja? :P

That was a fun read. The main reason I started this pack in the first place (which, in hindsight, I should have addressed when making the thread) is to contribute to the community. If it dies it dies if it takes off then it takes off, just like any other idea :D
