Your GODDAMN KIDDING ME! My neighbours got robbed too!

I'm scared for my life now. This guy could be dangerous. He IS dangerous. Not only can he ruin people's lives and make them miserable by taking all the valuables, but he can be physically dangerous!

My dad decided to deadbolt the front door and any direct entrance to our house, as well as dead-bolting every window in the house.

What the HELL is up with this robber?

Here goes...

I left for school at 8:30. My dad stayed home until 10:00 am. I came home from school at approximately 3:30 pm.

That left our house empty for 5 and a half hours.

When I came home, I didn't find anything suspicious. Went on my computer, forumed FFR for a while, then played the piano until my dad came home. My dad's close friend was preparing dinner for us, then my dad noted my Digital Camcorder. He asked me where it was. I did a casual inspection for my camcorder, and after 10 minutes, made an assumption that it was in the car, somewhere deep in the house or at dad's work.

So we had dinner, then continued looking for it. This was when something was really wrong. Dad found a lone camcorder battery, out of it's sockets.

The battery is never taken out, even for recharging.

We were seriously confused. My dad told me to study, so I got my things and did as I was told. About 10 minutes later, he bursts into my study room and tells me to check if I have my money. I had two weighty coin boxes, one for silver and one for gold coins. It hasn't been moved from the spot for over a year. What would you expect? I was telling my dad to calm down and told him it was there.

So I opened the drawer, and found approximately $2200 worth of coins, missing.

My dad came into my room because he realised that his laptop was missing as well.

Here is the list of stolen valuables:

Digital Camcorder - $1500
Laptop - $5000
Silver Coin Box - $200
Gold Coin Box - $2000
Cash Box - $23000 Note: Good reason why this amount of money is kept in the house, but I do admit it was a bit of a mistake.
Family Coin Box [My dad and myself] - $500
Fake Rolex - $15
My previous Sony Ericsson - $800
My new K850i phone charger - $20
American Dollars - $4000
Indonesian Dollars - AUS$1000
Sony Vaio 4GB USB - $30

Plus a few personal possessions which have gone missing...

That equals to approximately $38000.

The robber used our house key... God knows how he or she figured out where our key was located. Luckily he or she didn't tamper with my $70000 Yamaha piano, which I put myself in responsibililty for the rest of my life. The robber took what they needed; the money and the valuables. Left everything else in it's original state, put the key back where they found it and head off.

Left me without suspicion for 5 hours. I couldn't believe it when I found out my coin box, camcorder and dad's laptop was missing. That's when I went on a serious searching spree and noted down in my head everything goddamn thing missing.

In my timezone over here in Australia, it was between Friday 10:00 am and 3:30 pm.

But I do have my suspects.

There are some "waggers" in our school who normally hang out in Shopping centres most of the school day and return when they feel like it. Yesterday was meant to be an athletics carnival, but it was postponed because of wet weather. What I found at my house was a Driver Safety manual, pointing in the direction of somebody between the ages of 16 and 19. The robbers probably forgot to take it, believe it or not. Yes, some people whom I will never give my personal information to, somehow do have my address. I'd personally wouldn't care; I mean, what more can they do than egg my house?

But after this event, I'm keeping my suspicions in the directions of a group of people in my grade. I've kept the Driver Safety manual as evidence for the police. It definitely wasn't there yesterday morning.

And I am goddamn pissed.

Sweet Jesus, that is horrible. I misread the title and thought the "almost" part meant you almost lost all of your stuff, but you actually did. I'm sorry to hear all of this, hopefully, you'll be able to recover back the stuff that was stolen from you.

Check the key for fingerprints, unless you already touched it since then.

You can't get insurance on things like coins and cash, which is why this is pretty tragic.

dude, words cant describe how horrible that must be for you =/

did you just have a hide away key somewhere in the vicinity around your house?
if so, its possible the robber is someone familiar with your neighborhood and maybe saw a family member use the key?

im just ranting, i could be completely off. but again, im sorry for the lost. i really hope you get your coins back before that dick pawns them or something =[

I feel for you, OP. Here's hoping that you get everything sorted out with the police and they find and recover what was stolen from you, as well as lock up the bastards who took it.

Also, I do wonder why you had so much cash in your own house, but you said it was for a good reason, and that's enough for me. I won't ask why--and neither should anyone else here.

I'm sorry for your losses, dude. That sucks.

However, something strikes me funny here. I'm assuming your key isn't in a superobvious "popular key-hiding spot" (under a doormat, in a flower pot, on a door frame, hidden in a window cropping, etc). Considering the nature of what was stolen from your house, it seems like whoever robbed it knew exactly where your key was and exactly what kind of valuables you had in your house as well as where they were stored.

That Driver Safety Manual I was talking about is splotted with fingerprints. Hopefully it is enough evidence to find these bastards.

It's the only evidence I have. I wish I could take a picture of it, if I still had my camcorder...

The funny thing is, this "place" I am referring to was a little more obvious than the place where it used to be hidden. BUT, all I can say is that THAT place is unavailable anymore, so I had to hide my key in a "slightly" more obvious place, just for one day. And that one day happened to be the time where all my belongings get taken.

Also, the person wouldn't have had much idea where the big money was stored, but looking at the situation, that person cleansweeped our house very carefully.

Well you have two outcomes then. Either it's someone your family knew that knew where your valuables were, or it was someone who combed through everything thoroughly and took only the most valuable items. Therefore, you either have a fairly close list of suspects, or the robber left fingerprints and evidence everywhere.

Could someone have seen you move the key?

I'm so sorry about this. The coins are blargh rare, I'm sure. :( To be honest, I would suspect somebody you know, as hard it is to believe. Or, it could've actually been someone that could've walked away after not finding your house key, I don't know. I would suspect that he actually looked for your house key more then he looked for your things to steal. Do you know if there were any other robberies close to you?
