Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

Duh...

Expanding on heyitsmee's idea.

This would appear in the Genre selection. Image owned by heyitsmee

When you click on the genre, a screen like this would open up.

You could type in how much time you want. For experienced players, you can type in the BPM you want. For new players, you can just click on the catagories. The numbers by the Jacks section are for 4-frame 3-frame 2-frame and 1-frame jacks.

So if you want to support this idea just post it in this thread.

This is a cute idea, but playing the actual game is practice enough.

Can you imagine a newbie trying the jacks tutorial? Playing them on Super-Slow won't make you any better at them either.

Sorry, but I don't really like this idea.

True, but this will allow the player to isolate one part of the game to practice on. Lets say someone plays blank knowing/mercury lamp to get better on staircases(?). Those songs do not have a constant stream of arrows. They would have to boo-out and replay the song.

+1 ness. I could live with this idea. You should explain more on the tutorial (genre?)

Full support from me - love this idea. I'd even try to swith to spread and learn to do index streams (for some reason I'm extremely bad at streams when I try spread).

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

Very yes.

This would make me start playing spread :)

There's been two bumps in this thread, lol. Dunno if they matter, though, but no admin or anybody has said anything

spinal_compression 05-22-2008 07:50 PM

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

But would the points earned in the practice be added to our grand total?

If it does then I would probably be here practicing more often. (Screw using crap practice files I make on SM)

EDIT: Whoa it's a bump.

I love this idea! I hope it gets considered!

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

Now that I think about this, why don't ppl just play songs for practice?? Tutorial could be cool though. Instead of just the help button, there would be a realtime, active tutorial.

Tutorials for newbies.

Practice for the better ones...

What are rolls, chains, crossovers, and gallops?

I support this to the highest percent

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

Wow, whoever simply thought of this idea is a genius. I support dis to zeh max-ors. Well, this wouldn't benefit players like me that already use Final Fantasy Last Battle Festival for practice already >< (no intention of gloating)

Sorry for not updating the list, I'll update it now. Thanks for the support.

lumphoboextreme 05-25-2008 09:01 PM

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

yes. then i could practice one handed trills without going 3 minutes into a song. also itd be a quick way to get grand total up. =D

cry4eternity 05-25-2008 11:25 PM

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

Just make SM files for it...
like this
It took about an hour to make practice files for jumpstream, rolls, and runningman for 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, and 200 BPM.

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

This is a great idea! I thought FFR would need something like this but I just never said anything, and then you come along and make it look so damn good!

Edited: The practice songs would probably need to be made to make sure that it's not added to our scores. Maybe by making a special arrow set that gives you +0 on your score but can still be categorized by Perfects, Goods, Averages, Boos, and Misses?

i love you 05-28-2008 08:31 PM

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

Dude, this idea is like one of the best ideas ever IMO.

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

11000% support.

I will continue to subscribe to FFR even if I stopped playing it, so saying something about subscribing really won't make much of an accent. =/

Sig'd.

It would be nice if this was on FFR. FFR has its own system and appearance, which cannot be fully simulated by SM. I think this would boost many of the players' stats and capabilities.

However, I do practice the various patterns on SM with my own SM files. As Sprite- said, this isn't very hard to do. If you wanted to simulate the entire FFR, play on J3, with a black background, and FFR noteskin. I'm all for putting such a feature on FFR, but until then, SM -> FFR simulation is probably the best way to practice the patterns. Also, someone should make a practice smpack, with adequate music for each pattern.

I support this fully! PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!

LLaMaSaUceYup 05-29-2008 12:05 AM

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

Along with everyone else, I fully support this idea infinity%, I could learn crossovers index, and slow one handed trills. (I don't really play it)

and of course gain a lot of skill spread.

But then you could just make some crazy roll file to whore daily points.
;p

Not necessarily. Some basic music synthesis can make a variety of songs in which the PR and rhythm would be suited for the variety of patterns.

Manicmonkey 06-1-2008 11:12 PM

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

I'd love to be able to practice on certain sections of songs, having to play through the whole song just to practice on a particular section is tedious! 100% support.

Re: Suggestion--FFR Practice Tutorials

This is a fantastic idea.

I need some work on my right handed trills.
