Heck, I'll just put it in the pack anyway. I don't care anymore. I just want to release this.

Sooo excited for this. Might inspire me to play stepmania again. I can't stand playing it on my laptop anymore so new stuff helps :)

How embarrassing. I was thinking of the wrong file :(. I'm sorry, dude.

I'll judge your file in a bit. Sorry about that.

*edit* Sulfer, Bodom Beach isn't listed in the OP. Is it alright to include it?

N.T.M. 12-2-2009 12:40 AM

Re: Astronomic Metal Collection 2

Well submissions are diffuse at this point. I don't want to let that affect judging, but really if I was too strict this pack would never get completed.

Reviews:

(Bynary Fission) Goddess Bound
- I understand what Sulfer was referring to and I remember you and I have already spoken regarding the sync and what was necessary. While things are slightly off at points I'd say it's sufficient all things considered.

M7 throughout the next few measures could have been stepped more creatively.

Also, while I can certainly recognize and appreciate your syncing initiative, I'd still have to complain about PR. It's kind of terrible :(. IMO don't let something like that mar an otherwise great construction. [accepted]

(Ghakimx) Native File - Very repetitive with generic music. Some places felt a bit sparse too (in conjunction with some bastardized patterns). This is Sulfer's call here. [maybe/pending]

(Ghakimx) Final Step
- Does this really constitute metal? It's a stretch, but maybe.

Offset's slightly off in addition to intermittent sync errors. Seems like a cut might be good too. Anyway Gundam-Dude obviously thought the sync was sufficient. Not a bad file really. [accepted]

Also, did you correct the sync on that measure I mentioned in UV?

SulferDragon 12-4-2009 12:29 AM

Re: Astronomic Metal Collection 2

No, I didn't fix the sync. Too lazy :(

I'm not accepting Final Step because it's not metal at all. Calling it metal would be well beyond a stretch. Also, I don't see anything wrong with the file in ODI2. Haven't played the update of Native File.

I could have sworn I did. In any case, I just submitted it with the requested change so that should be good to go.

hi5 for using actual in-game cg ;)

What song did you step? So I can know what title to put on the image for you so we don't need to wait ages for GFX :P

So, a Metal pack sounds cool and I want to submit my A Parenthesis in Eternity file by Scar Symmetry. It's only Oni for Spread players but I will make a heavy file for indexers, too. If you like I could send the Oni chart.

Most players are spread so I'd say you should include oni and heavy is optional.

Thats what I did. I sent it to the e-mail and made a heavy stage today.
If you agree with oni I can send the version with heavy, too.

Re: Astronomic Metal Collection 2

A Parenthesis in Eternity - Work on it - Some pattern variation at the beginning might be a good idea.
Minifreeze streams kind of make sense, I guess, but I'd like to see them removed.
Measures 107-122 are completely overdone. At least compared to the rest of the file.
Measures 129-130 are offbeat.
Measure 132 is offbeat.
You didn't step some drum sounds here and there.
I think it would be better if you stepped the drums instead of the guitar at the end. If it's to much trouble to sync, leave it.
I'm digging the song. Fix this.

Hurry Somebody Up - Accepted - It's good. Guilty Gear <3

Native File - Work on it
- I don't know. The file just isn't that appealing. If N.T.M. liked it I might accept it though.

The Fall of an Empire - Work on it - This is fun.
Make those minifreezes in measures 24-25 48th or 64th notes long.
This is every measure you stepped the drums incorrectly in: 30, 44, 60, 93, 94, 99, 103, 114, 116, 170, 178, 181, 203, 207, 213, 264, 265
The errors in 234, 236 may be correct, but they aren't consistent with other parts of the file.
Next time you're stepping something this long, consider a cut.

KK, I'll work on it now. But whats the meaning of "I'm digging the song"?

SulferDragon 12-20-2009 01:45 PM

Re: Astronomic Metal Collection 2

It just means I like the music. It's completely irrelevant to the quality of the file.

I personally would seeing as the 2 main instruments are guitar & piano here

Ghakimx 12-20-2009 07:31 PM

With the drums of course. Lots of triples.

Re: Astronomic Metal Collection 2

Hell no. Not metal enough. And the song has been stepped 2023u09832529476y9853292833209865292439832498425924A^2 times. No more. And do more metal stuff. This is not upbeat piano rock pack.

Ehhh... I suppose I might. It really depends on the quality of the file though. Also, yeah, there are already about 49 versions on this song.

I download the pack finally (via kbo) and I find out IT SOUNDS LIKE THE LAST F**KING PACK! Like what the f**k, put some actual rip-your-guts-out metal in it. Not this weird Sonata Arctica/Stratovarius/"Power Metal" crap.

i.e. Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Severed Savior, Revocation, etc.

Lol. Anyway, I kinda agree with your point, but power metal in general is much easier to sync than other metal subgenres. I submitted a few death metal files to the pack; Cannibal Corpse - Carrion Sculpted Entity and Putrid Pile - Collection Of Butchery. Only the latter got accepted. You can't really be picky because, as far as I'm aware, there are only a small handful of people who step real extreme metal (not In Flames-kinda stuff) with any regularity.

Extreme Metal = Born of osiris, Veil of Maya, Periphery etc. bands with very technical riffs and complex polyrithms :P

I'm not mad. That's perfectly legit. It was (and probably still is) hard to find good simfiles to *ahem* "rip-your-guts-out" metal, and nobody ever submitted any. Not really my fault.

Also, I happen to like power metal.

I'm honestly flattered that people are still posting in this thread.
