About me:
I believe that altering a newly conceived person to improve normal qualities should no be allowed unless the fate of the baby itself is being risked. The reason why I feel this way is because I believe that altering a baby’s genes could seriously damage them in an emotional way. If I had my genes tampered with so I could be improved, I’d feel like I was worthless to begin with. I’d also believe that my parents wouldn’t love me for who I really am. If we needed to alter a baby’s genes, the only way I wouldn’t mind is if it’s the only way the baby could survive. Scientists may alter genes as an experiment, but I think that’s it’s just wrong for a human to be considered as one. I think that certain employers should be able to access the genetic information of their employees, just not to use it against them. What I mean by “against them” is that they must keep their information confidential and not use it for anything else except for analyzing it to make the best decisions. The reason why I think that we could benefit from this is because when we know a lot about a person, we can position them in the best way possible. Businesses can match up their positions with their employees to get the best results. For instance, if an employee’s genetic map has an instance where there’s a high risk of a lung disease, then the manager knows not to put him working outside doing construction. I think it would benefit companies if they had the genetic information of their employees. After all of this planning and knowledge that we’ve gained as a human race, I still don’t believe that we are ready to casually start working with genetic engineering. I don’t think we ever will be ready as well. I believe that there are going to be some people who want to find out what happens, and they’ll keep pushing it. Eventually, I think that this whole subject is going to take over us. We will be so into trying to make this work that we won’t ev
