7th Official Tournament Blog! (D2)

My first official tournament, got placed in D2. Even if I get eliminated early I'm going to play/give my thoughts on the songs anyway. But hopefully I make it semi-far. LEGGO!

Ended up making it to round 4, or the top 32. Pretty pleased with how I did though, and there's always next time...so I'll be back.

Round 1: Death March (1-0-0-1)

I sincerely hope the rest of the rounds aren't like this. SO MANY HANDS (plus that near-quad thing at the end). I don't have anything against the way it's stepped, I think the usage of hands is actually quite fair; it's just I can't hit them because I just so happen to play this game one-handed and the arrow keys on my laptop doesn't support hand-hitting. So I decided to play this song spread (major awkward) and after playing a bunch of hand-filled songs (Snow, Rainbow Road, asterisk, etc.), I got a 1-0-0-1 on one of the runs where I didn't derp.

tl;dr: grumble grumble played spread

Round 2: Insomnia (Acid Paradox remix) (3-0-0-0)

Pretty tricky file, nice job on it Jae. Had to learn how to hit that up-down trill by shifting my index finger to hit the down button (instead of trying to hit both up and down with my middle finger), and also had to stagger-hit those hands, but the toughest part is the speedy 16th part in the middle.

Round 3: Calling Mars (3-0-0-0)

Ugh. It's a cool little file, the jumpstream bits near the end are quite fast though. Nothing majorly difficult about this file, although improving my score might be a pain, so I hope 5 goods is good enough to make it to round 4.

EDIT: Got it to 3-0-0-1, discovered that it rocketed me up from 29th to 27th, went "what the crap", then improved it to 3 clean, where a total of 9 people seem to be at. I actually feel like out of the first 3 rounds, this is the song that I have the highest chance of AAA-ing. But it'll still take a pretty lucky run.

And it just so happens that 3 goods is the cutoff. Wow scary.

Round 4: Hearth's Warming Holiday Cheer (13-1-6-7) [ELIMINATED]

Holy moly this song is brutal. It's really fast and the 32nd trills are a bit past my level to hit comfortably. And the jumptrill stuff is nice but I can't hit it. Brb experimenting with a ton of different styles.

Anddddd after trying various spread and one-hand setups, nothing really worked, so I'm out. :(

But hey for the lulz I'm going to keep playing the D2 songs, so...

Round 5: 16bitFruit (14-4-7-11)

Can do everything but the ending. gg

Round 6: WHO GIVES A **** ()

   Oh come on, I hit the trill one fingered and still AAA it 80% of the time :P

   How to hit up-down trills one fingered: Slide your finger from the up to the down instead of lifting it every time. Also hit the bottom of the up key and the top of the down key so you can move your finger as little as possible.
   And I know I can do a whole lot better than 15g, I've gotten plenty of scores like 7g, only problem is, they were 7-0-1-0s :(
