Level Ranks and Your Opinion!

I am currently working on improving my level rank for each song in the entire game. I will play each song in the game once, unless I messed up but I knew I could've full comboed the song and that I have never full comboed the song before. I am doing this because I realized that, in addition to 2 hands, changing the speed from 1 to 1.25 really helps make things clearer. My level rank used to be 1500 when I used 2 hands, but no speed mod. Here is my progress:
Currently working on: Secret
Genres completed: Dance 1, Dance 2, Funk, Arcade, Rock, Classic, Misc.

I need your opinion! Should people be ranked according to their grand total (which is how it works now), or their average level rank? I understand that for level ranks, it would be very easy to cheat. Simply find someone who's good at the game to go on your account and play every song in the game. But, if you are honest, I feel that level rank is a better representation of SKILL. Grand total is more of a representation of TIME SPENT on the game. The people who are ranked higher generally spend more time on the game.

   when i first started playing i didnt know about speed mods. i used them in sm. once i learned about it on ffr it helped me a lot. and ranks should be according to average ranks. some might even say tier points but my tier points are low.
